SIZE  GUIDE

BRA  FITTING

There are two key elements to accurate measure proper fitting of a bra - Band Size and Cup Size.
For a correct bra size and fit you can try the old way and the new way.

The old way to measure a bra band was to measure below the breasts and add between four and five inches to calculate band size.
  1. Snugly measure just under the bust. Place the measure under your bust at the front and making sure the tape measure is flat and straight across your back. Pull the tape tight to ensure an accurate measurement, and measure in centimetres or inches right around the torso. Round up to the nearest even size and add 4 inches or 10 cm. (1"=2.54cm.). This is your band size.
  2. Measure across the fullest part of your breasts at the front. And this time, make sure the tape measure is very loose. In fact, when the tape measure slips off the bust this is the figure you require. Subtract your back size (step 1) from the second measurement (step 2). The difference between 1 and 2 determines your cup size.
Now the new easier way.
  1. While standing straight and wearing a regular bra, wrap the tape measure around your chest, above the bust. Make sure the tape is straight all the way around you. Pull the tape until it is taut but not restrictive or pinching. Round the measurement to the nearest even number. This is your band size or rib cage measurement.
  2. To determine your cup size, measure over the fullest part of your bust. The difference between this measurement and the size from step one will be your proper cup size.
If the difference is:
  • 0"  your cup size is AA
  • 1"  or less your cup size is A
  • 1" - 2" your cup size is B
  • 2" - 3" your cup size is C
  • 3" - 4" your cup size is D
  • 4" - 5" your cup size is E  (or DD)
  • 5" - 6" your cup size is F  (or DDD)
  • 6" - 7" your cup size is G

Fitting Problems and Solutions

Problems Recommendation Lemax Lingerie Solution
Straps fall down. Adjust straps or reduce cup one size if adjusting doesn't work. Buy only adjustable, high quality products and carefully measure your bust for the proper fit.
Band slides up. Try a tighter hook and/or loosen the straps. Reduce band one size if adjusting doesn't work. When trying on bras make sure the band fits level and isn't too tight when you use the center hook.
Straps leave marks. Loosen straps slightly. If adjusting doesn't work, you need a more supportive bra. Buy full cup bras designed to support or minimize. Fuller busted women should consider some of our Comfort Plus Sizes which run up to G cups without sacrificing style. A must have for our plus size customer.
Breasts spill out the sides of a bra. Increase your cup size. Try full cup bras.
Fabric isn't smooth across bust. Extra material or wrinkles are caused by too large cup size. Reduce cup by one size. Try microfiber instead of lace when seamless is required. Bra with hidden underwire gives you a modern and sleek look.
